The Cheshire Cat from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland fascinates with its mysterious ability to appear and disappear. Its pink-violet striped body transforms into an abstract figure when it temporarily vanishes. In science, this phenomenon relates to binocular rivalry: the brain cannot process two highly conflicting images simultaneously, one becomes "invisible". Perception then shifts on its own, without any conscious effort.
