The work Mete consists of four cylindrical granite pedestals made from old bollards of the City of Lugano, upon which rest four sculptures representing the fruit of the chestnut tree. The sculptures are designed in a hybrid form, blending the various types of chestnuts found in Ticino, suggesting the creation of a new species. They evoke the shape of an eye looking through semi-closed eyelids. The work is placed on a small plateau at the top of the Monte Roveraccio hill, a location offering a 360-degree panoramic view. From this perspective, the sculptures rise like sentinels or lookouts, vigilant eyes that turn their gaze and point toward the destinations conceptually closest to them.
